Our Wider Connections

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Bellingham, is more than just one small church on a corner in a little town in the Pacific Northwest. We are a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a church of grace and welcome for all. We have denominational, local, and international connections, both near and far, that help us do great things for God's world. And we are so very grateful to all those who work so hard to make the impossible possible.

Here are just a few of our connections:

Some Important Info on Islam and Muslims
If you find yourself growing more and more confused by what you see and hear in the media, and don't know what to believe, here are a few links to help you in your understanding of the religion of Islam and of Muslims as people.
  • Click here for the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ's statement on the vilification of Muslims.
  • Click here for a guide on words that are helpful to use when speaking about Islam and Muslims and words that are hurtful. Remember that it is a matter of respect and understanding, as we all learn about one another. This document also provides a fact sheet to help us understand more about our Muslim brothers and sisters and ideas on how to best serve as their allies in these difficult times.
  • Click here for a brief list explaining just what it means to be Muslim in America and the many contributions American Muslims make as they live and work among us. It is important to remember that they are family, friends, and neighbors.
For more info, feel free to contact us or CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations) Washington's Director, Arsalan Bukhari
